About us

Brian Hill was born and brought up in the Cornish village of Delabole, world famous for its slate. The Son of a Cornish Industrial Blacksmith, Brians Father worked
in the slate quarry and also owned his own workshop.
Brian worked with his father until he left school and then became a trainee in welding and blacksmithing for a local agricultural and
engineering business.
Some years later he moved to Yeovil in
Somerset with his Wife and two Sons, finding employment as a Welder Fabricator with
a local company achieving the position of Foreman.

Brian took the decision to go self-employed in 1978 and set up Brian Hill metalcraft. Trained both as a Blacksmith and a fabricator he was more than able to satisfy all areas of the metalworking industry building up a wide and varied customer base.

Brian is a long-standing member of the Guild of Wrought Ironwork Craftsmen of Wessex (The Blacksmiths Guild), an Associate of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths of London and has taught the craft of Blacksmithing and Welding at Bucklers Mead School in Yeovil for Fifteen years and Kingston Maurward College in Dorchester for the past Six years.
